ICC World Twenty20: Netherlands beat England on last ball nail biter

The Netherlands Twenty20 team exploded with excitement as their team mate ran their second run from the last ball of their innings to beat the ICC World Twenty20 hosts England by 4 wickets at Lords.

Needing two runs off the last ball the Dutch batsmen played the ball not far from the bowler Stuart Broad; they were always going to run the single. Broad fielded the ball and had a shy at the wickets; missing and allowing the batsmen to return for a second run from the over throw handing victory to the Netherlands.

England played poorly scoring only 162 from their 20 overs, England were 102/1 after 11.2 overs but couldn’t push on to achieve a greater total. The fall of the first wicket seemed to lift the Dutch side and they began their fight back in the field.

England should have defended their total, opening the bowling England’s James Anderson took the wicket of the Netherlands opening batsman, all seemed to be on track. All the other Netherlands batsmen contributed to take the game to the last over needing 7 runs.

Going into the last over England still should have won; but Stuart Broad simply folded under the pressure. He attempted and Jonty Rhodes type diving run out, only to land on the ball and hit the stumps with his hand as the ball popped out. He then put down a catch off his own bowling, and topped it all off with the second missed run out resulting in an over throw, and victory for the Netherlands.

The result leaves England in serious trouble; they play Pakistan next in a must win game on Sunday.

T20 World Cup 2009 Analysis

Today i am going to write on my favorite sport cricket. As you all may know that from 5th June 2009 the T20 cricket world Cup is going to be start. I am a big fan of cricket and to tell you how big fan i was i will share some of my life experiences. when i was in school i only escaped from school whenever Pakistan had cricket match, the worldcup 1992 came at the time of my exams but i prepare myself for watching match not for exams but by the grace of Allah i have cleared my exams. i have very emotional and deep connection with cricket and i feel i am an expert of cricket so i did some analysis and come to some result that i am sharing with you. As we know T20 world cup is happening in UK and according to my analysis three teams have best chance to win this cup. 1. India 2. South Africa 3. Pakistan Why these teams are good ? India because they have good batting and some how good medium fast and spin bowling and a good captain as well as they are defending champion. South africa is in m...

Pakistan In or Out T20 World Cup

I am now discuss the today's very important match that is Pakistan Vs. Netherlands. And this could be another upset because Pakistani team is famous for getting defeat from new teams. It is not my view the history tells that when Bangladesh came first time in World cup they beat Pakistan after that Ireland in next world cup beat Pakistan and and now Netherlands. i heard that history repeats itself if it is true than may be today Netherlands defeat Pakistan. Cricket is by chance but if Pakistan play with their full strength and seriously than they could beat Netherlands very easily and could qualify for next round. In this match in my opinion Pakistan has to change their opening combination and to improve their fielding as much as they can do in this short time because the main reason in their defeat in last match was fielding plus wrong opening combination and mental weakness. Netherlands not new to cricket because they are playing cricket from many years and also coming in world c...

Change of hearts….again.

And now Rana Naved has expressed his willingness to quit the ‘rebel’ ICL and make his services available to the Pakistani team. MoYo said he had resigned, Razzaq said he, too, would like to play in the national greens again. No doubt this is great news for Pakistan, especially as it follows the humiliation in UAE (yes, despite losing 3-2 I’d call it a humiliation judging by the manner of defeats). However, the trio, and the rest that made their journey across the border, knew fully well the consequences - omission from the national squad - before putting pen to paper. Despite this, it was deemed a noble act, for the sake of ‘earning their livelihood’. Are they then, especially MoYo (or yoyo considering his flip-flops with PCB and ICL), justified in asking PCB to ensure they have a guaranteed place in the squad upon which they will quit the ICL? I don’t think so.
